Some make it even easier than Cyberduck. Screenshots were taken using WordPress 2. Earlier versions of WordPress will show different screens because they redesigned the interface, but if you look for the words I highlight you should be able to muddle through.
For example, Themes are always in Appearance, but where they put Appearance changed between revs. Cyberduck will ask permission to be your default app for FTP — make your own decision on this one! For others who have not put the wordpress files into a separate folder, they may be visible already at this level, if they are, skip to the next step in this tutorial. Next we need to actually get some themes. Look for ones that say "widget ready" and also pay attention to how many columns you want.
A standard wordpress theme has 2 columns — the main body plus a sidebar, but many prefer to have three columns, the main body and two sidebars. This part is all personal preference. Pay attention to where your browser downloads the theme. When downloaded it will be a Zip file. Double click the zip file to expand it to a set of folders. Looking at the screen shown, you see many individual files ending in. For some reason the developers of WordPress decided to put themes in the folder called wp-content.
Since Mountain Duck and Cyberduck refer to the same application support directory the connection profiles are shared between both applications.
Disabling the checkbox deactivates the connection profile for the currently used application. Service providers that define connection profiles and open an issue to request the connection profile to be added to the default repository. As the latest version of macOS now numbered 12 will arrive later today both Cyberduck and Mountain Duck are fully compatible.
The regular installation instructions apply. Mountain Duck 4 introduced labels to assign to bookmarks to allow grouping in folders in the status bar and system tray menu.
To further ease the lookup of bookmarks for power users with many connections we have now added a search field in the menu in version 4. Cyberduck 7. The Microsoft SharePoint Site connection profile now allows to connect to specific sites. The regular Microsoft SharePoint connection profile adds support to browse different libraries. Refer to our extended documentation for both OneDrive and SharePoint.
We have made some adjustments in version 7. Switching between bookmarks and browser view is now always visible in the toolbar. The information displayed is timestamped of the time it was accessed. Cyberduck supports various SSH features such as public key authentication and one-time passwords. Browsing files on Cyberduck is easy and straightforward than most of the FTP clients in the market.
Users can view and move files quickly to the browser. More so, it with almost any character encoding system. File management is even more comfortable with copy and paste functionality. The Quick Look functionality in the software gives users to preview files with just a single click. On macOS, one has to click on the space button to preview files, akin to using the native Finder app. The functionality allows users to view files without the need to download it. Also, browsing large folder structures is much easy and efficient.
Cyberduck allows users to limit the number of simultaneous transfers. Moreover, resuming interrupted download and upload is much simpler on the software. It offers one of the secure file transfers between servers. Cyberduck is a native citizen of both operating systems — macOS and Windows. Hence, it means that it natively works with minimal computational overhead and additional components.
Whereas on Windows, passwords are stored in the Credential Manager. Bonjour software on macOS detects printers, and services on the local network. Users can view the services in Bookmark. It also offers convenient system notifications.
Reportedly, one of the only drawbacks is that upgrading to High Sierra — a fourteenth major release of macOS creates iCloud conflict when opening Cyberduck.
You must have a CyVerse account to upload files and directories to the CyVerse Data Store, but an account is not required to download files using Cyberduck that have been made available for public use in Data Commons. CyVerse account users can download all community data, as well as upload files and directories to the Data Store.
For information on the other upload and download methods, see Downloading and Uploading Data. This configuration is for the CyVerse main Data Store. To connect Cyberduck to a federated or dedicated resource server, please contact your network administrator. Click in the Transfer Files drop-down list and select Open multiple connections.
