Enter Evernote. I switched to html email client and just clipped anything of importance into Evernote. While I was laid off and ran my own consulting firm Evernote was there to help me manage contracts, meeting notes and invoices. As I went after my teaching certificate Evernote was there as well; managing contacts, cover letters, audio files from lectures.
Three years into teaching I still go to it daily, just not as much. I cannot image life without Evernote. I used to love Evernote. Not 5 minutes after I started searching for it in the app. Also, I had some notes that I had unknowingly put the title in quotes! That was a big mistake. Very frustrating. It has worked well for me and this is from an Evernote user since August and a Premium user since February I use Evernote across 4 different IOS devices and 4 different user accounts on a server setup Mac mini.
I can't say Evernote isn't without it's issues and that I've not had any in the years of use; but this one version hasn't had any of the issues people have brought up for me. I will comment to some users who complain, specifically about table support, Evernote really isn't a table power-house app. If you need the functionality of such an app, get one, use is and when you've whipped up the table you want, paste it into Evernote. You'll likely have a better experience. I find Evernote a great app for what it does, holding notes, PDF articles, drawings, etc.

Miniature icons and almost invisible dividing lines. One big flat white surface. What kind is that? It is not convenient. Changing the GUI for change's sake. Wow, the title text now huge and of course non-configurable. Ironically, now that Yosemite supports Dark Mode, they remove all of the dark backgrounds in the app so it now stands out like a sore thumb when running it. Just shake my head, thumbs down on this "update".
Jimsinsd Nov 21 Another new version. A v 6 iteration of a program. And still a poor set of table features, something that allows the user to organize data better. You cannot select rows. You cannot select column. You cannot set defaults. There is very little user control over data in tables.
I do like the cross platform and cross device syncing ability which is why I started using Evernote. You would think that by version 6 of a product that control over user data would be more sophisticated. And I still experience delays and slowdowns while typing a note.
I have an incredible fast iMac 3. I will be typing and it stops and the dreaded Mac spinning beachball displays. I check and there is no sync operation occurring so it has to be an internal coding issue. No other program I run has delays, pauses or spinning beachballs. Please Evernote Corporation, hold off on bloating the program with extra features and spend some time improving the performance and feature capabilities which are already available.
I've been a premium Evernote subscriber for going on three years. But no more. Every new update seems to bring some ridiculous bloatware features that are obviously aimed at trying to please their investors. I want a fast, easy, note application that syncs across my devices. I don't want a marketplace to buy shirts or bags.
I don't want connections to LinkedIn. I don't want crap added to the sidebar without asking me. I don't want a chat button in the toolbar which can't be removed. A once great tool which seems to be losing its focus and therefore its appeal. Esekel Sep 30 I love this program, but I am not happy with this update. The interface does not help in decluttering your data or notes. The worst thing is, everything is 'online'. Whilst I have a local copy of my Evernote notebooks, the Evernote Safari plugin does not talk with the local copy but only with the online account.
That way, the free 60 MB data allowance per month will be gone very fast. Also, the Safari plugin needs to be logged in like a website, so if you've deleted your history you have to log in again: this could be avoided by using the local copy.

If I wanted to change my browser search to Bing, I would have done so. Installing malware to hijack my search is not cool. MacOS users would not put up with this behavior. In my search for such an app, I've downloaded at least half-a-dozen apps, but none of them will do both jobs. Well, I take that back. Volcanus Feb 16 I reverted to version 3! In newer versons, one can no longer create local notebooks, which are never synchronized. Also the integration with keychain is very bad. Although the idea is very goog, the implementation needs much improvement.

However, the inability to customize some of the keyboard shortcuts set by Evernote's team is inconsiderate and counterproductive. I use that specific shortcut to show and hide my clipboard manager.
I emailed Evernote's support about the problem, and was surprised to receive a laconic response stating that some keyboard shortcuts cannot be edited. So then of course it syncs with all my devices and it's on everything. The first time it happened Evernote tried to blame it on me, said it must be some lack of security or miss doing on my end. All good in Evernote land. Install with confidence. Same with Evernote 5. SBBoD upon launch. Their tech support, with whom I've been in touch, seem to be unable to isolate my problem. So for now, bye-bye Evernote.

Even though I understand the pressing concerns of the American Memorial long weekend, the demonstrated incapacity of the latest release suggests a calculated disregard for the Macintosh client base. Not a crash, but upon launch Evernote goes off into a world of its own, accompanied by the Spinning Beach-Ball of Death, and never returns to the real world.
